Daniel Loring Winsor papers, 1829-1869.

This collection consists of original and photocopied correspondence and financial records of Daniel L. Winsor, captain of the Coliseum and New Orleans shipping agent for Magoun & Son, Boston. Included are business letters from Boston, received when Capt. Winsor was in port at Havana, Mararuas, Hamburg, and St. Petersburg, as well as retained handwritten copies of letters from Winsor to Magoun & Son, and a few miscellaneous printed forms. Also included are numerous original cancelled checks written by Winsor against accounts in City Bank in New Orleans in the 1840s.

Daniel Loring Winsor, born in 1804, was a ship captain and agent for T. Magoun & Son, Boston. Capt. Winsor operated out of Boston and New Orleans; he sailed to ports in England, Denmark, Russia and Cuba.
